Members of the European Parliament are elected every five years.
The 2019 European Parliament election in Germany was held on 26 May 2019 electing the 96 members of the national Germany constituency to the European Parliament. The election was part of the 2019 European Parliament election, which was held across the European Union on 23–26 May 2019.
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won the election, winning 22.6% of the vote and 29 seats. The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) came in second place, winning 15.8% of the vote and 16 seats. The Green Party came in third place, winning 20.5% of the vote and 21 seats. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) came in fourth place, winning 5.4% of the vote and 5 seats. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) came in fifth place, winning 11.0% of the vote and 11 seats. The Left came in sixth place, winning 5.5% of the vote and 5 seats.
